THREES Program
3 - 4 Years, Preschool in Herndon, VA
Dragonflies, 3 - 4 Years
Our Methodology
Our 3-year-olds work with a variety of materials to build on what they have already learned in earlier classes. Now is the time to read more advanced material and start writing. Also, of utmost importance is computers in our technology-driven society. We introduce computer learning. The class in divided into smaller groups where each child is given the opportunity to participate hands-on. They also start writing numbers and letters. Here we also introduce Spanish as a second language. Working on the motto that healthy body makes healthy human beings we start the day with exercise. Circle time follows; children learn about letters, numbers, concept and theme for that week. Each day they learn:
- Computers
- Spanish
- Writing journal
Environment
Teachers at Happy Hearts, apart from maintaining a clean, caring and happy environment, are constantly engaged in maintaining our prepared environment of learning while playing.
Our Dragonflies work with a variety of material in order to further their knowledge. To build on what they have already learned in earlier classes, our preschoolers are now taught reading and writing. They learn Spanish. They also get to know computers which is taught daily. Academics are of utmost importance but physical exercise together with dancing is also given prime importance. They learn to dance on tunes with the help of a teacher who specializes in dancing.
The day for Dragonflies starts with exercise. This is followed by Circle Time. We then divide the class into two groups – one does math and other does language and art. The day ends up with some motor activities, some reading and doing puzzles. Throughout the day they get:
- An introduction to math
- An introduction to writing in journal
- An introduction to Spanish as a second language
- An introduction to computers as aid in learning and writing. Each child gets personalized attention.
- Music lessons from a professional.
- Weekly themes and concepts as part of their learning experience.
- Arts and craft based on weekly themes.
